We're more than a CA firm — we're a learning community where every team member is challenged, supported, and celebrated. If you love numbers, law, and making a real difference for clients, you'll feel right at home.
"At YM Shah & Co., we believe the best professionals are made through complete exposure, not narrow specialisation. Whether you join us as an intern or a full-time team member, you'll leave knowing the full landscape of chartered accountancy — and carrying the values of respect, care, and quiet confidence that define who we are."
Our Culture
We've been practising for over three decades, and in that time we've built a team culture that values kindness as much as competence — because both matter equally to our clients and to each other.
We don't silo people into departments. Every team member gets exposure to tax, audit, GST, company law, NRI advisory, and more — because a well-rounded CA is a confident CA.
We greet everyone — client or colleague — with politeness and a soft voice. Hierarchy exists on paper; in practice, every question is welcome and every person is heard.
You'll be assigned real responsibilities from day one — not just photocopying or filing. We trust our people, and that trust drives everyone to deliver their personal best.
Tax law changes constantly. We stay sharp together — through internal discussions, study circles, and a culture where reading the latest CBDT notification is a habit, not a chore.
We work hard during season time — and we acknowledge it. Outside peak periods, we maintain sensible hours and respect everyone's personal time and wellbeing.
ICAI's Code of Ethics isn't just a rulebook — it's our compass. We take independence, confidentiality, and integrity seriously in everything we do, every single day.
Internship Programme
Our internship isn't about sitting in one corner doing the same task repeatedly. It's a structured journey through the full practice of a Chartered Accountant.
What We Offer
At YM Shah, we've made a deliberate choice: no departmental silos. Instead of being confined to "only GST" or "only audit", every intern rotates through all service areas. You'll understand how income tax, GST, corporate law, and advisory all connect — and you'll be a much stronger CA for it. Alongside learning, you'll be given specific responsibilities you own completely.
Systematic exposure to all practice areas — tax, GST, audit, company compliance, FEMA, NRI advisory — so you build a complete skillset.
You'll own specific client tasks, filing deadlines, and work products. This isn't shadowing — it's doing, with proper guidance alongside.
Work directly with the partners and senior staff, not just through intermediaries. Questions are always welcome — curiosity is celebrated here.
Fully compliant with ICAI articleship requirements. Your training diary is taken seriously and your exposure log reflects genuine, varied experience.
Curriculum
Every intern at YM Shah gets genuine, hands-on experience across these six areas. You won't just observe — you'll actively participate in client work under proper supervision.
A Typical Day
No two days are the same — but here's a feel for how a typical working day flows at YM Shah.
The day begins calmly. Tea is made, and each team member reviews their task list for the day. The senior gives a brief overview of any priority matters — client deadlines, new notices received, or upcoming hearings.
This is the heart of the day — preparing tax returns, working on GST filings, compiling audit working papers, or drafting replies to notices. Interns work on their assigned tasks, referring to seniors when they hit a question.
Lunch is a shared, relaxed moment. Conversations range from client matters to CA exam tips to what's happening in the news. It's an important part of building the team's warmth.
Afternoons often involve reviews with the senior, learning sessions on a specific topic, attending client meetings, or working through the afternoon pile of documents. Questions asked in the afternoon are as welcome as those in the morning.
The day winds down with a quick status check — what was completed, what needs follow-up tomorrow. Interns update their training diary. The atmosphere is relaxed and the team leaves on time on most days.
Professional Conduct
Our conduct reflects the trust our clients place in us. We ask every team member — intern or partner — to uphold these standards with sincerity, not rigidity.
We prefer whites and pastel colours — light blues, soft creams, mint greens, pale pinks. Clothing should be neat, ironed, and modest. Smart casuals work well; overly bright or casual attire is best avoided in the office.
We speak with care — to clients, seniors, and each other. Polite language is not just expected, it's valued. We say please and thank you, and we ensure our words are never hurried or dismissive.
Our office is a calm space. A soft, measured voice signals confidence and composure — qualities every CA needs. Loud conversations or phone calls are taken outside the main workspace.
We respect each other's time. Arriving on time — for work, for meetings, for deadlines — is one of the simplest and most important ways we show professionalism and care.
During working hours, personal mobile usage is kept minimal. When clients are present, phones are put away entirely. We give our full attention to the work and people in front of us.
Client information is never discussed outside the office. Financial details, personal data, or ongoing matters are treated with the same seriousness as a doctor treats patient records. Always.

What We Offer
We're a boutique firm — we may not have a gym or a pool table, but we offer something more lasting.
Study leave for CA intermediate and final exams is granted generously. Your exams are as important to us as they are to you.
From GST exporters to NRI investors to listed companies — you'll encounter real, varied client situations that textbooks never fully capture.
Your articleship experience logs will reflect genuine, varied work — useful for ICAI documentation and your future career narrative.
In a small team, you get direct access to the partners. You're never invisible here — your work is seen, acknowledged, and appreciated.
No formal bureaucracy for a simple question. Walk up, ask, discuss. The senior's door is open — literally and figuratively.
A fair monthly stipend is provided to all articleship interns, reviewed periodically based on performance and year of articleship.
On completing your tenure, a detailed reference letter reflecting your actual experience and conduct is provided — a valuable career asset.
The small things matter. Morning chai, birthday celebrations, and a genuinely warm team — we take care of that too.
We're always open to meeting passionate, sincere, and curious candidates. Whether you're a CA student looking for articleship or a qualified professional seeking a warm and meaningful workplace — we'd love to hear from you.
